Shower gel-also known as shower liquid or body wash-is a liquid cleansing agent used during bathing. It is typically packaged in a pump-dispenser container, allowing for easy use simply by pressing down.

Compared to traditional bar soap, it offers distinct advantages, such as being more hygienic (as it requires no direct hand contact with the product itself) and ensuring a thorough cleanse.

Since body cleansing involves cleaning a large surface area, it is also desirable for the product to generate lather during use; consequently, shower gels are typically formulated to possess excellent foaming properties.

Furthermore, in contrast to facial skin, the skin on the body generally produces less sebum and sweat; however, the apocrine glands-which secrete substances that contribute to body odor-are distributed across nearly the entire body surface. Fundamentally, shower gel serves as a cleansing agent specifically designed for the skin on the body, excluding the face.
